Nazca Flight and Chauchilla Cemetery

Nazca Lines Overflight

 8.30 a.m. Pick you up from your hotel and transfer to Maria Reiche airport.

Previous to the overflight Nazca Flight we will observe an information video about the lines, so you will have a preview about these figures and also to get familiarized before.

For the Nazca Flight the type of planes we use for this tourist each seat has its own window so that you can appreciate the figures correctly

The Nazca Flight has a duration of 35 minutes, during this tour you will see perfect figures of giant animals like birds, the condor, humming bird, pelican, a parrot, you will also see a monkey, a spider, a whale, a lizard and a famous figure known as astronaut and more.

Apart from the designs, you can also view hundreds of lines all over the desert, and large geometric figures which seem enormous airstrips.

Chauchilla Cemetery Tour

The Chauchilla cemetery is located south of Nazca, approximately 30 km. This is perhaps the only place in Peru that allows you to appreciate the mummies in their original tombs.

Itinerary

At the indicated time we will board our private car to head south of Nazca along the southern Pan-American highway.

Arriving at the Chauchilla cemetery, our guide will show you around and will provide information about this ancient culture, we will visit 12 tombs with funerary bundles of mummies,
We will visit one by one among the tombs and we will find family tombs as well as small tombs of couples,

The interesting thing about these mummies is the human braids since they are very long and hang from the walls, along the path, we will also find corpses of babies in small circular tom.

The mummies in the Chauchilla cemetery are in a good state of preservation despite their age and in many of them you can still see remains of hair and even some skin, also remains of offerings and there are even some animals mummified. Conservation has been possible largely thanks to the very arid and dry climate of the Nazca desert.

Then we will visit a Ceramic Workshop, where a master craftsman will give us a good explanation about Nazca ceramics, to understand more about the iconography and also about how the ancient inhabitants of Nazca made such colorful and beautiful ceramics.
